This 6 Days Rwanda Luxury Safari takes you on a luxury safari in Rwanda. Your adventure begins in Kigali City – the capital of Rwanda, where you will have a night to relax after your international flight. The next morning, we drive to Volcanoes National Park in the northwest for a two – night stay surrounded by its breathtaking forest. Here you track mountain gorillas and visit the local community.

Afterward, we will journey to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda for a two night safari at Akagera Game Lodge. Akagera boasts a variety of landscapes, including wetlands, savannah, ad dense forests, providing excellent opportunities to observe a wide range of mammals and birds.

Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda Luxury Safari

Day 1: Kigali City Tour

On arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and go for a short Kigali City tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site the Kimironko Market.

Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After a delicious breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park arriving in the afternoon. From Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, it is a journey of approximately 3 hours and along the way you will enjoy amazing views of the countryside of Rwanda and get to know why it is called the land of a thousand hills.

Enjoy lunch at your lodge and in the afternoon you will go for a cultural experience in the Ib’Iwacu Village. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, taste some local meals, interact with the elders among others giving you a deeper insight into the life of the local people.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience & Dian Fossey Centre Visit

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the briefing point in Kinigi where you will join other visitors in briefing. Here a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas.

The trek into the forest looking for mountain gorillas on a trek that takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate your gorilla family you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other.

Later trek back to the park headquarters, meet your driver and return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a visit to the Dian Fossey Centre where you will get an insight in the life of Dian Fossey and her conservancy efforts.

Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, depart Volcanoes National Park for Akagera National Park – the only savannah park in Rwanda and home to the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos.

Along the way you will enjoy scenic views of the countryside, arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive exploring the savannah plains of Akagera National Park and enjoying sighting of several animals. At sunset you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon

6 Days Rwanda Luxury Safari — Wildlife in Akagera

After a delicious breakfast, check out of your lodge and go for a morning game drive exploring the savannah plains of Akagera National Park, searching for several wildlife species. Be on a lookout for wildlife species like lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, elands, gazelle, warthogs, zebras among others.

Enjoy lunch and in the afternoon you will return to the park for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. You will enjoy sighting of several animals including hippos and crocodiles in the waters, several water birds such as herons and cormorants among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure

Wake up early and head to the park for a morning game drive, return to the lodge for a full breakfast, check out and embark on a journey back to Kigali City. You will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport to catch your flight back home.
