Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of the few locations in the world where you can see the endangered golden monkeys, these playful primates are only found in the rainforests of Central Africa in the Virunga Ranges comprising of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in DR.Congo.
Golden monkeys are considered endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), with only about 4000 individuals remaining in the wild.

Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your golden monkey trekking journey starts with arrival at Entebbe International Airport or breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala, meet our representative (your driver-guide) and embark on a journey to Southern Uganda. From Kampala, it is a journey of approximately 9-10 hours including a stop at the Equator Crossing for pictures and a chance to stand in Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
Have another stopover in Mbarara for lunch and continue with your journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s trekking experience.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking
Wake up early for breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking and the right way to behave while in the forest with these endangered species, led by a Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) ranger guide.
Head into the forest searching for golden monkeys found in the bamboo sector of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, unlike gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking is less strenuous taking about 2- 3 hours. Once you locate these playful primates, you will watch them play, feed and groom each other.
The forest journey is quite adventurous, offering a true jungle experience with nature’s sights and sounds. Also, it is excellent for birdwatching due to the forest’s diverse avian population. Photography is allowed.
Afterward, you will return to the park offices, our drive will take you back to the lodge, and spend the rest of the day at relaxation.

Day 3: Departure
Wake up early for breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala with en-route in Mbarara. You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight home or to your next destination.
