Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Flying Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Adventure

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by an African Vacation Safaris. He will give you a short briefing about the safari and what to expect, then drive you to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe or dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Entebbe – Bwindi Forest

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver guide and transfer you to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your morning scheduled flight to Bwindi departs at 0745 arriving at Kihihi Airstrip at around 0930 , during the flight you will enjoy aerial views of the changing beautiful landscape of Uganda.

On landing at Kihihi Airstrip, you will be welcomed by your guide and drive you to your lodge for check in and short rest as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a Buhoma Village Walk offering you a great opportunity to see how the people surrounding Bwindi Forest live, learn about their way of life, cultures and traditions. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking

Have early breakfast, and with your packed lunch box, head to the park’s headquarters for briefing from UWA staff, during the briefing you will be taken through the dos and don’ts while in the presence of the gorillas.

In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

When you locate the chimpanzees, you are allowed to stay only one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. You are free to take photos as long as your flashlight is off.  After one hour, you will trek back to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates, meet your driver guide and return to your loge for an evening of resting, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Bwindi Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a four hours’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha Sector which is renowned for the rare tree climbing lions, the drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment where you will have a short game drive.

Enjoy lunch after checking at your loge, in the afternoon you will have another game drive exploring the park more and seeing more animals. After sunset you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Full Day in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for a cup of coffee and head to the Kasenyi Plains for an early morning game drive where you will see many animals including elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda kobs and many birds.

Later return to your lodge for a full breakfast, have a short rest as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon you will head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise safari. The channel connects Lake George to Lake Edward and is home to a huge population of hippos, during the cruise you will see hippos and crocodiles in the waters, elephants, buffaloes and antelopes and many bird species such as herons, grey crested crane among others along the banks of the channel.

Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, have a short rest as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon, you will head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise safari.
