Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Gorillas & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Pick-Up and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Enjoy a delicious breakfast served at your hotel in Kampala, then meet your driver and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in South Western Uganda. En-route to the park, you will have a brief stopover at the Equator for water experiment and a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemisphere and lunch in Mbarara.

Continue with the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation: Gorilla Forest Camp

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking from the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. After the briefing, the ranger will lead you into the emerald forests of Bwindi to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

Upon locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour in their presence watching them feed, play and groom each other. To find the gorillas is a tiresome experience since it can take you almost 3-8 hours to find them. However, once you meet the gorillas, you will easily forget the hatches you have gone through to find them and instead save the good memories you will experience with them. After the interaction, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, then leave Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha Sector commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions. As you drive through the area, lookout for the rare tree climbing lions in fig trees. Enjoy lunch in Ishasha and transfer to Mweya to catch up with the afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel. The launch cruise will reward you with views of the most famous water loving animals like crocodile along the river banks, elephants taking water, hippo and many birds.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Kibale forest National Park

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive in Kasenyi Area known for hosting a huge population of antelopes. The game drive will reward you with a variety of wildlife in the park such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, and antelopes like bush bucks, water bucks, Uganda kobs, warthogs among others. Later on you will return to your lodge for lunch, later you will transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Kampala

Enjoy an early breakfast, and set out for a short chimpanzee briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority officials. The rangers will guide you on how to behave while in the presence of chimpanzees, these great apes are known as man’s closest friends because of different characteristics that they have in common with man. Lookout in the trees for chimpanzees, other primates such as white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, red colobus, black and white colobus, baboons and different bird species like the Great blue turaco, Africa pied kingfisher, malachite among others. Return back to the lodge after the trek for lunch after which you will transfer back to the lodge. You will be dropped off at airport for your flight back home.
